I have always admired the beauty, skill and creativity so many people display while dancing, and came to enjoy dance as my own form of expression, exercise, and stress reliever. About a year and a half ago, I started dancing with Safar Dance Co. I love spending time with the girls and seeing how our individual body and dance types come together to create such beautiful performances after a lot of hard work and dedication. I am currently in medical school and will have to curtail my performances and the time I can put into to dancing, but it will always be one of my great loves and something I can be thankful for as it has opened me up to not only a new form of dance, but it has made me push myself, meet some of my best friends and grow as a person.

Raquel PiƱa
Raquel Pina, has always had a passion for dance. Her first exposure to dancing consisted of Latin dances, which included salsa, merengue, bachata, cha-cha, and of course cumbia. Not long after, she was introduced to belly dancing. Raquel has studied under Gina Gonzales for the past three years, mastering technique first and choreography second. Her belly dance experience has expanded from traditional to cabaret to fusion.
