My path as student, performer, instructor, promoter and admirer of this artform began with one single performance.

I was absolutely drawn in the very first time I witnessed a bellydance performance. It was Gypsy Caravan from Portland, Oregon. These beautiful women were regal, so solid, so confident. Their dance was strong and feminine, they were fiery yet cool and earthy. Their interaction was majestic but sweet. I wasn't only observing, I was experiencing. Without a doubt, I needed more.

I immediately started studying with Gypsy Caravan, while advancing in levels I researched additional styles and forms. Circumstances soon led me to none other than master instructor Suhaila Salimpour. It's difficult to put into words what Suhaila and her disciplined technique classes do to a dancer's body and mind, but suffice it to say, it became an instant addiction. I was fortunate to study intensely with Suhaila Salimpour via her school and workshops. I soon had the privilege of becoming a member of the Suhaila Dance Company and Bal Anat, and assisting in classes and workshops. I also had the good fortune of receiving instruction from the mother of bellydance in America, Jamila Salimpour, and dance instruction (and nurturing) from the impeccable Rashid (original Bal Anat member).

After leaving the dance companies, I focused on solo performances and frequently collaborated on projects with many of the amazing talented dancers, musicians, and promoters in the SF Bay Area.

A recent life decision has brought me to Arizona, where I continue on my path as a performer, instructor, promoter, admirer, and like many of my fellow dancers a lifelong student of this powerful passionate art.
